Crossing bridges raises money
When Eric Considine suggested that other members might like to join him in walking eight Thames bridges to raise funds, this was taken up and organised by Florencia last February. Taking part were Eric, Eleanor Dayawon, John Rudge, John Stacey and Florencia. Between them, this intrepid band of walkers raised the wonderful sum of £691. The money has been sent to help to pay for the tuition fees of 35 children for the school year 2007-2008. This fundraising event was so successful that Eric and the team thought it would be worthwhile repeating it next year, probably at the same time in February. So if you want to walk off those winter blues then let Florencia know that you would like to join them.
To all the generous and kind people who sponsored the five walkers, we thank you most sincerely on behalf of the children and their carers. We also thank Ben Boateng, manager of McDonalds Restaurant in Victoria Street, for providing the walkers with a free lunch at the end of their walk.
